Larry J. Marshall 11/11/1948~04/08/2015
Larry enlisted in the Navy on April 10, 1967 and was assigned to the U.S.S. Pueblo. On January 23, 1968 the Pueblo and the crew of 83 was captured by the North Koreans and held captive for 11 months until their release on December 23, 1968. He continued his Navy career until his discharge on January 4, 1971. His dedication to his country did not stop there. He later joined the Army National Guard from 1978 ? 1982. Through his military service he received the following medals:
Two Purple Heart Medals
Navy Commendation Medal
Prisoner of War Medal
Korea Defense Service Medal
Armed Forces Expeditionary Ribbon
Combat Action Ribbon
National Defense Service Ribbon
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the
U.S.S. Pueblo Veterans Association.

Larry J. Marshall, 66, of Brownstown, died at 2:42 AM, Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at his home, of lung cancer. Born November 11, 1948 in Scott County, he was a son Floyd and Alma (Bowman) Marshall. He was raised by his grandparents, Jackson and Maggie Sizemore Marshall who all preceded him in death.
He enlisted in the Navy on April 10, 1967 and was assigned to the U.S.S. Pueblo on January 23, 1968. The Pueblo and the crew of 83 was captured by the North Koreans and held captive for 11 months until their release on December 23, 1968. He continued his Navy career until his discharge on January 4, 1971. His dedication to his country did not stop there. He later joined the Army National Guard from 1978 ? 1982. Through his military service he received the Navy Commendation Medal,Two purple Heart Medals, Prisoner of War Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Ribbon, Combat Action Ribbon and the National Defense Service Ribbon. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the U.S.S. Pueblo Veterans Association. Larry worked for Austin Sanitation Dept. from 1973-1975, was a Certified Emergency Medical Technician for Ross Ambulance from 1975 ? 1981. He received his GED in 1982 and received an Associate Degree in Automotive in May 1989. He then went on to work for Travel Centers of America as a diesel mechanic until 2003 when his injuries from being a POW made his disabled.
Larry had many hobbies such as cars, drawing, wood crafts, fishing, music and collecting eagles. On August 18, 1984 in Lee County, IL, he married Shelly Leturgez Grider and she survives.
Other survivors include:
4 children: Lisa (Tory) Collins of North Vernon, Megan Marshall of Brownstown, Dustin ( Kathy) Grider of Wisconsin and Donald (Ashley) Grider of Brownstown.
Siblings: Mike (Evalee) Marshall of Austin, Jackie (Arlene) Marshall of Corydon, Debbie ( Larry) Hutchinson of Henryville, Barbara Marshall and Brenda Ashley both of Scottsburg and Donna (Irvin) Banks of Lexington.
Sisters-in-laws: Bonnie (Steve) Scott Martha Gentry and Rhea Leturgez all of Freetown.
13 grandchildren, and 32 nieces & nephews also survive.
1 brother Charles Mashall and 3 brothers ?in-law Richard Gentry, Michael Leturgez and Terry Leturgez precede him in death.

The information about Mike's death was sent to me in a Facebook message from Arlene (Jackson) Marshall, Mike's sister-in-law. (DWM - 4/18/2022).
David, Don't know if you've heard that Mike Marshall passed away last night. He was Floyd and Alma's #2 some. He'd just turned 72 in March. My husband, Jackie, is the only one of the 4 boys who is still alive.
He passed away at his home in Austin Indiana. They are making arrangements today at 4:00 so I will update you when I know where he'll be buried.

Michael Marshall, 72, of Austin, Indiana passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022 at his residence
Born March 1, 1950 in Austin, IN, he was the son of the late Floyd and Alma (Bowman) Marshall.
He married Evalee (White) Marshall, on June 16, 1973, who survives.
Michael was a retired Machine Repair Journeyman at Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana and was a member of the Faith Assembly Church, Clarksville, Indiana.
Michael was a United States Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the Marine Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Evalee, daughters, Rebecca (Roger) Roth of Austin, Indiana, Hope (Jonathan) White of Austin, Indiana, son, Benjamin (Stefanie) Marshall of Lexington, Indiana, brother, Jackie (Arlene) Marshall of Elizabeth, Indiana, sisters, Barbara Marshall of Scottsburg, Indiana, Brenda (Willie) Ashley of Scottsburg, Indiana, Debra (Larry) Hutchinson of Memphis, Indiana, and Donna (Irvin) Banks of Otisco, Indiana.
Grandchildren: Maggie (Josh) Turner, Leah Grace, Jacob, Josiah, Jackson, Sadie and Emma. Great Grand-Son: Landon and 1 on the way.
He was preceded in death by his Brothers: Larry (Shelly) Marshall and Charles (Debby) Marshall
Funeral Service: 11:00 am Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Faith Assembly Church in Clarksville, Indiana with Rev. James Allen & Rev. Kevin Crase officiating.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm Friday at Buchanan Funeral Home and after 9 am Saturday at Faith Assembly Church.
Burial will be at Austin Cemetery in Austin, Indiana.
