Hello David,
I have found some info on your cousin, Robert K Marshall. I haven't been able to find any children yet & have talked to folks who knew them & they don't believe there were any children born to this marriage. His wife, Kathryn, was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbus & my guess was that he is also buried there. I have copied his obit from the newspaper & will also get hers if you want it - his doesn't tell where he was buried.
They were very prominent people and entertained famous people from all over; they lived in a beautiful large brick home that even had an elevator in it. The outside walls and the inside partitions were "three bicks thick". I have a picture of it for you; along with a couple of pages from a history book, his obit in Delaware & Columbus newspapers; a few newspaper articles that mention his first book, parties he attended for Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowden, and where he bequeshed money to one of the colleges he attended. This week I will see if we have the 1925 Ohio Wesleyan yearbook since he was said to have graduated that year. Might be fun to find a college picture of him, right?

I found my cousin, Robert Kossuth Marshall in your death and burial list, (April 8, 1996) but there was not a cemetery listed. Can you direct me to sources that will give me that information as well as information about his wife and children? He married Katherine Comstock. I Have a genealogy web site www.marshallgenealogy.org <http://www.marshallgenealogy.org/> but I have not been able to find information about Robert K.
Thank you.
David Marshall

This information and the spelling of his middle name comes from a newspaper
article in "The Mount Airy News", May 18, 1990, page 7-A

The article below is from the "Guilford Collece Magazine," Fall 2002, page 41.
Robert Marshall Makes Bequest of $65,000
The Guilford Fund, continued from page 37
Robert K. Marshall '25 of Delaware, Ohio, a professor emeritus of English and creative writing at Ohio Wesleyan University, has left a bequest of $65,000 to establish a scholarship in his name at Guilford College.
The bequest, made through Guilford's Our Time in History campaign, has established the Robert Kossuth Marshall Scholarship Fund. Income from the fund will be used to provide need-based scholarships to students.
In announcing the gift, Guilford President Kent Chabotar said, Guilford College is, indeed, appreciative of this bequest by Robert Marshall. It is particularly significant that Mr. Marshall remembered his alma mater with this gift at the end of his life after achieving distinction as a faculty member at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Such endowed scholarship gifts are very important to Guilford in that they help other students receive an education here, and they also help us in recruiting in a very competitive higher education market.
After graduating from Guilford, Marshall received his Master of Arts degree from Haverford College. He also studied at the University of North Carolina, Harvard University, Northwestern University and Iowa State University. From 1937 until his retirement in 1969, he was a member of the faculty at Ohio Wesleyan University. From 1937-39, Marshall was a visiting assistant professor at Guilford College. He was married to the former Kathryn Combstock of Columbus, Ohio.
Marshall died several years ago, but college officials said the bequest could not be announced until details of his estate were settled.
As a student at Guilford, Marshall was president of the sophomore class, first president of the Men's Student Council, editor in chief of the student newspaper, secretary of the Dramatic Council, and secretary to Guilford College President Raymond Binford. He also was an actor in several theatre productions at Guilford.
An author as well as an educator, Marshall wrote several published novels. In 1949, he received the Ohioanna Medal for the most distinguished novel by an Ohioan that year. In 1953, he received a citation from the Friends of American Authors for the most distinguished novel by a midwesterner that year. He also was president of the Ohio Poetry Association from 1955-57.

Millie,
I am truly sorry about your brother. SO far all five of the children in my family and all five of the children in my wife?s family are still living. But we are all moving along in years.
I didn?t mean to sound disinterested in your information. In fact I am very interested in nailing down that part of my family and I would be glad to make a donation for that. Let me know how much and I will forward it. I was hoping to find children of theirs and try to contact them, but since they didn?t have any children that?s not possible.
Thank you for your kindness. I look forward to hearing from you again.
David Marshall

David,
I'm sorry that I haven't gotten back to you but my brother passed away on Monday & this has been a very stressful week for my family.
I have gathered quite a bit of info that I mentioned in my emails to you & you didn't seem interested in it, so I didn't know what to make of your request. Our society does research for a donation plus copy & postage costs. I cannot scan the info to you, but could mail it if that's what you want. I didn't find a copy of the 1925 OWU yearbook to find his picture in it though. We only had the 1926 yearbook in our collections.
Please advise.
Millie

Millie,
I went to the Franklin County GenWeb page and looked at the list of cemeteries. Woodlawn is not listed there. What county is it in?
