Subject: The passing of Christine Russell
All,
The Russell family regrets to inform you that their wonderful mother, Mrs. Christine T. Russell passed away peacefully Thursday December 11, 2014 at North Fulton Hospital in Roswell GA. Christine passed away surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
Christine was born January 26, 1924 in Winston-Salem NC, to the late Dewy and Macie Turner. Upon graduation from Lincoln High School she attended Mitchell College in Statesville NC where she studied Business.
Christine grew up with four sisters: Carolyn Costner, Eleanor Brinkley, (the late) Evelyn Aycock, and (the late)Marilyn Henderson.
The overwhelming joy of Christine's life was her family. She was a devoted wife of the late Floyd A. Russell Jr. (Lieutenant Navy Ret.) who were married on December 16, 1944 in Pensacola FL. She was also a dedicated mother and grandmother that supported all endeavors of her family. Christine never missed an opportunity to speak fondly of her children, Floyd A. Russell III and wife Claudia, Beverly R. Davis and husband Larry, and Chuck H. Russell and wife Ellen.
Christine was warm hearted and loved by all that knew her. To her friends she was a treasure that was irreplaceable, always a phone call away. Her neighbors remember her as giving soul always thinking others.
One of Christine's greatest pleasures and joys in life was being a Grandmother. She always showed great love and patience in the rearing of her grandchildren. The values and life lessons she lived and taught to her family and friends will be an inspiration forever. She was cherished by all seven of her grandchildren: Benjamin Russell, Mandy Russell, Christina Russell, Chas Russell, (the late) Kaelen Russell, Michelle Davis, and Andy Davis.
Christine later moved from Charlotte NC, after raising her children to Chambrell in Roswell,GA and in her words, an "exclusive" senior living community, where she continued her numerous hobbies. Christine was an avid artist and enjoyed painting, pottery, drawing and making her prized bread flowers. She repeatedly shared her knowledge and love for imagination with all she encountered. As an exquisite baker Christine warmed the hearts and bellies of those she loved with her cakes and famous chocolates. Her baking talents have traveled the world and even comforted American Soldiers stationed in Afghanistan, where they coined the name "Nana's Chocolates".
Christine had a life filled with love, adventure, joy and inspiration. Through the years she taught us to love our friends and neighbors unconditionally and to cherish the moments we have. The impact of her loss cannot be described in words alone, only felt. She will live on forever in the hearts of all that knew her and will be eternally remembered as the thoughtful, caring human being that she was.
A service to celebrate Christine's inspiring life will be held at 12:00 pm Sunday, December 14th in Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, 500 Providence Road Charlotte, NC.
We love you all for including her in your family communications and hope that you will include us in the future.
Thank you all....Love,
Chuck Russell
