!The Journal of Surry County Genealogical Society, May, 1993.- (Dobson, N. C.)
They were Moravian - Christian Frey (Frei), Peter Frey, Peter Binckele
(Binckely), and about 100 others appear on a petition to the government of
North Carolina dated August 14, 1778. That gave them liberty to take an Affirmation instead of an Oath, and guaranteed freedom from personal service in war.
