    • Lived Surry county most of life. Moved to Kernersville in summer of 1966.
      Died by hanging in basement of home eight years after wife died in same month.
      Worked as farmer, carpenter and truck driver. Also worked for Department of
      Navy during WWII at Newport News, Va. Hard worker, good father never got over
      death of wife and disease of alcoholism.

      Was named Wade Hampton at the suggestion of his Mother's doctor who was from
      South Carolina. Wade Hampton was Civil War Hero, State Senator and Stateman.
      Wade Hampton has a statue in his honor at Columbia,SC statehouse.
