- !Marshall 0007, Pg. 582 & 586 - "The Heritage of Surry County, North Carolina;
Volumn I - 1983. Editor Hester Bartlett Jackson. His family arrived in the
Wachovia Moravian settlement on August 27, 1769. It is thought that they came
from Koblenz on the Rhine River.
!Marshall 0007, Pg. 582 & 591 - "The Heritage of Surry County, North Carolina;
Volumn I - 1983. Editor Hester Bartlett Jackson. There are several
conflicting statements in this book about different members of the Wolff, Wolf,
Wolfe family. I will point out some of them.
Page 582 gives Wilhelm Adam Wolff's first son as "Friedric Lorenz Wolff" and
his third son as "Johann Ludwig Wolf." Page 589 gives the third son as "Lweis"
or "Lorentz" Wolf with the "t" added before the "z."
Page 584 gives Daniel Wolff's wife's name as "Martha, daughter of Jacob
Shepperd". Page 588 gives her name as "Martha Pines Shepherd (different
spelling), daughter of Augustine Shepherd." There are also numerous conflicts
in dates. I have relied mostly on the version on page 582 since it had the
most resources listed. Other versions on pages 583 - 591 seemed to come from
personal knowledge only. One exception to that was the section about Frederick
Gilmer Wolfe on page 588. Gil Robertson was involved in writing that section
and I know Gil to be conscious of accuracy. (David Marshall, West Columbia, SC
- December, 1991)
