My GGG grandfather James Albert Marion was born 1871 in Surry County to Tyre Franklin Marion and Margret Riggs. My GGG grandmother Susan Phoebe Johnson was born 1876 in Surry County to John H Johnson and Rachel Kidd. This photo was taken in 1908 in Surry County. My GGG grandparents James Albert Marion and Susan Phoebe Johnson Marion Married 1894 and had 8 Children including my GG grandfather Posey Rains Marion. Only 6 of their Children are pictured in this Photograph. My GGG grandparents James Albert Marion and Susan Phoebe Johnson are buried at the Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Surry County.

This young beauty is Bertha Maybel Marshall Born 23 Aug 1890; died 26 Jun 1969 in Kernersville, North Carolina. She was the only child of John W. Marshall and Jemima Josephine Hopkins. Noteworthy is that she must not have liked that since she and Arthur Ballard had 10 children. John & Bertha Marshall's homeplace is still on N. Main Street in Kernersville, Forsyth County, N. C. May Leona Ballard b. 1913 their 3rd child still lives there and their 10th child Kay Francis lives next door. John Ballard, who sent me this picture also sent me the picture of the "home place" that he took while he was at the reunion this summer (1999) in Dobson, NC.

front from left to right Ralph.....John Ernest.....Merle...Addie...Mamie Merle died at an early age,as close as I can figure, it wasn't too many years after this picture was taken. I'm in contact with Marvin Marshall,Ralph's son and he agrees with me on the I.D. of the picture.
