 | Marshall, Bertha Maybell This young beauty is Bertha Maybel Marshall Born 23 Aug 1890; died 26 Jun 1969 in Kernersville, North Carolina. She was the only child of John W. Marshall and Jemima Josephine Hopkins. Noteworthy is that she must not have liked that since she and Arthur Ballard had 10 children. John & Bertha Marshall's homeplace is still on N. Main Street in Kernersville, Forsyth County, N. C. May Leona Ballard b. 1913 their 3rd child still lives there and their 10th child Kay Francis lives next door. John Ballard, who sent me this picture also sent me the picture of the "home place" that he took while he was at the reunion this summer (1999) in Dobson, NC.

In the family picture, I think that I have the people identified. In the back from left to right Bessie.....Carlos......Lebert
front from left to right Ralph.....John Ernest.....Merle...Addie...Mamie Merle died at an early age,as close as I can figure, it wasn't too many years after this picture was taken. I'm in contact with Marvin Marshall,Ralph's son and he agrees with me on the I.D. of the picture.

I will start out by sending my UDC app…and a great picture, which has
“James Henry Marshall and Elender Pegram Marshall”
“Civil War Veteran”, written in my mother’s hand on the reverse.
I have copies of his military service and POW status from Fold3 also.

 | Marshall, Martin - Tombstone The name arched across the top is "Martin Marshall." The rest of the text is:
Born December 7, 1749 Died September 19, 1834
The tombstone of his wife, Eleanor,is next to his to the left. Hers was broken but still readable at the time I visited the graveyard in the 1990's.
This cemetery is six miles north of Winston Salem in Stokes County, North Carolina. Drive up Baux Mountain Road until you reach Dusty Trail on the right. Go down Dusty Trail until you come to the end of the road. The cemetery is about 100 yards further on in the woods.
