| 12. | Tyre Franklin MARION was born on 7 May 1847 in Surry County, North Carolina (son of William C. MARION and Patience (Patia) GILLESPIE); died on 11 Nov 1924 in Round Peak, Surry County, North Carolina; was buried on 12 Nov 1924 in Surry County, North Carolina. Notes:

!"The Journal of Surry County Genealogical Association", Volume 15, Spring,
1995, page 15. - This source shows a picture of the William C. Marion family
bible and has everything transcribed. Unfortunately, Franklin's first name is
not clear, but it looks like "Tiry." It is definitely "T?ry." The following
note (exactly as written) comes from the family bible:
"June the 3. 1864 - T F Marion went to the war as a calverman an serv to the
end of the war he sirv ten monts he was to have thirty one dollars on oath an
never got nary dollar".
