This Father's day wasn't what we had planned. On Friday morning, my dad decide to take the ultimate nap and left us for Heaven. While we greatly miss him, we know he had lasting impression on so many people. What a party in heaven there is for sure!

    Obituary of James Andrew Harris

    IN THE CARE OF

    Rollins Funeral Home

James A. (Jim) Harris, Jr, 68, of Rogers, Arkansas, formerly of Ft. Smith, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 17th. He was born January 24, 1954 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to the late James A. (Buddy) and Jeanene Harris. He was a graduate of Northside High School in Ft. Smith, and later earned his BS Degree from College of the Ozarks, and an MS degree from Webster University. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, who served 6 years active duty on a submarine. Following active duty, he joined the Navy Reserves until he retired in 1994.

He worked 18 years at Hiram Walker, before pursuing a career in Human Resources. He worked for several companies in HR positions, including SPMI, Bost Human Development Services, Farmers Bank, Rich Mountain Community College, and Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Ralph Hugo. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Leslie (Chafin) Harris; 2 children, James A. (Drew) Harris of Rogers, and Sarah Harris of Fayetteville; 2 grandchildren, Andrew and Henry; 1 brother, George (Amy) Harris of Greenwood, and 2 sisters, Pat (Bill) Kirk of San Antonio, and Carrie Harris of Rogers; along with several nieces and nephews.

He attended First Baptist Church in Ft. Smith prior to moving to Rogers, and after moving to NWA he attended Oakley United Methodist Church.

He began his lifelong love of playing drums in the 7th grade, and could still be found playing the drums on Sunday mornings at church. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle anytime the sun was out and was always up for a ride to complete the ABC's of Touring. He was especially proud of riding to the top of Pike's Peak, as well as riding the Tail of the Dragon in Tennessee. He was always "excellent", and always quick with a story or an "opportunity".

He will be missed by so many friends and family, but we know he is having a big party in heaven and wants us to do the same.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.RollinsFuneral.com for the Harris family.
