Max Verne Talbot Jr. (Col., U.S. Army, Ret.) Marco Island, FL

Max was a loving husband and father as well as a dedicated career Army officer. Born in Palo Alto, CA on July 21, 1920, Max graduated from U.S. Military Academy at West Point in June, 1943. He served in World War II, Korean Conflict, and Viet Nam Conflict before retiring in 1973 after 30 years of distinguished service. His awards include a Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster (two), and Bronze Star medal. He maintained close contact with a wide circle of military and civilian friends around the world. Max's cremains will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations be sent to United Church of Marco Island, 320 North Barfield Drive, Marco Island, FL 34145 or to any other charity of the donor's choice.

Linnie called this evening and requested that I inform each of you that Max died on July 8th of congestive heart failure--just short of his 89th birthday. She stated that Elizabeth was with her now.

When I asked about funeral arrangements, her response was muffled. I couldn't tell whether she said there would be no memorial service or that one had already taken place. She did state that he was to be buried in Arlington "with his family". They have requested that memorials be sent to their church.

Linnie called from a Naples, FL number (Private), which is different from the Marco Island number I had for them.

    John

Minerva (daughter of Bluford Dean MANN and Louise Elizabeth MERRITT) was born on 26 Nov 1910 in Daviston, Tallapoosa County, Alabama; died in 1968 in Okinawa; was buried in 1968 in Washington, DC.
