Cruise
CONOVER - Mr. Charles Wiley Cruise, 69, of Conover, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Mr. Cruise was born in Surry County on Nov. 28, 1941, to the late James Lloyd Cruise and Clara Elizabeth Gates Cruise Younger. He was retired from Duke Power and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Conover. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Stevens Cruise of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan Elizabeth and Mark Nelson of Stony Point; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Hampton and Karen Cruise of Winston-Salem; a stepson and wife, Richard Gray and Jennifer Harrison of Concord; grandchildren, Jordan Elizabeth Nelson, Christopher Tyler Harrison, Paul Hampton Cruise and Chase Chadley Nelson; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Tom Cline of Walnut Cove; a brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Ann Cruise of Ararat; and a stepfather, Kermit Younger of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cruise was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Dale Cruise. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Jessup and Dr. Ed Yount officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church Building Fund, 440 7th St. PL., SW Conover, NC 28613.
