    Several "distant Mullen cousins" and I are cooperating/sharing/comparing information on the Mullen and allied families. We'll happily share what we have collected...unfortunately, Aden Mullen and Jane Brazel Fry are one of our "brick walls", too. At this point, we have "no clue" what became of Aden! As you probably know, Aden abandoned Jane and their children. We have some information regarding his descendants...however, questions remain and there are some inconsistencies in the data. Aden also married Carrilla Ann Taylor abt 1822 in IL -- probably, Scott Co., IL -- and deserted her, too. Carilla d 1857, Scott Co., IL -- their only known child, Frances "Fannie" Mullen was raised by members of her mother's family. She m Joshua Whitesite 1872 in Scott Co., IL...they moved to Vernon Co., MO where they lived out their lives.

    I'm sending a 4 generation GEDCOM for Patrick Mullen & Hanna Pruitt...which ludes Aden as one of their children. NOTE: It is our ASSUMPTION that Aden is their child...however, it is possible, he was a brother or cousin to Patrick Mullen. Despite concentrated efforts, we have not yet documented his birth/death or burial information -- or proof of relationship to Patrick Mullen & Hannah Pruitt. David, since I'm uncertain how much data you'd like to have, I opted to send only 4 generation rather than "cover you up" with unwanted data; please be aware, we'll happily share all we have -- gaps, mysteries 'n all! Just let me know.

    Only within the past few months have we learned names for Patrick Mullen and Hannah Pruitt. We were confident we would then be able to develop ancestral information, but that has NOT been the case. Thus far, we have NO information on either of them, i.e. no siblings, parents or ancestors!! The ONLY data we have for Hannah came from 1850 and 1860 IL census...indication she was b NC about 1793-1796.

    The picture of ANDREW JACKSON FRY family, including his mother, Isabel Bailey Mullen/Fry, and his children is great! I'm interested to know who supplied you with this terriffic picture...would you share that with me along with contact information?

    We don't yet have documentation for death and burial information for George M. Fry & Isabelle Bailey Mullen; do you happen to have that data?

    Also...will you share a GEDCOM with me re your data on ancestors/descendants of George M. Fry and Isabell Bailey Mullen? Unless I've overlooked instructions, there seems no way to download a GEDCOM from your website.

    I'm taking the liberty of copying in the "distant cousins" I mentioned...we all descend from children of Patrick Mullen and Hannah Pruitt.

    Dara Miller, Des Moines, IA -- descends from Aden Mullen & Jane B. Fry;
    Earlene Mullen Bradley, Oviedo, FL -- descends from Aden Mullen and Jane B. Fry;
    Gale Mullen, Erie, KS -- descends from Andrew Jackson Mullen;
    Sonny Bailey, Clinton, MO - descends from Eli Carter Mullen;
    Jim Montgomery, McAlester, OK - descends from Eli Carter Mullen;
    Betty J. Ferguson, Aurora, MO - descends from Eli Carter Mullen;
    Pat L. McDowell, Shreveport, LA - I descend from Abriam/Abraham Mullen.

    I'll look forward to hearing from you, David.

    Cheers!

    Per Earlene Mullen Bradley: Birth date of 1816 is a guess, judging from the fact he could have come into Mexican Territory TX 1829 as a single man with Forgay Mullen. They vouched for each other in the Nacogdoches records in 1935. I don't know if that means he entered the COUNTY or TEXAS at that time. It states that they both arrived October 24, 1829. James Mullen (also single) arrived June 6, 1835. (Don't know if this is James Allen Mullen.) They could have been applying for land in the Mexican territory, just passing through or actually arrived in Galveston or New Orleans.

    Both Aden I. and Forgay show up on the August 1842 tax records in Hancock County Illinois with Hannah, James, Eli and Hannah Mullen. Hannah was listed in 1840 and these others could have been her children.

    George Fry, brother of Jane B. Fry/Mullen was married to Isabella Mullen but I do not see that she belongs to this family. (NOTE: Later documented she is child of Patrick & Hannah Pruitt Mullen.)

    Andrew Jackson Mullen is my great grandfather and was a brother to Isabella Mullen married to George Fry and Aden Mullen was also a brother married to Jane Fry. I have some info on all of Andrew's siblings that I would be happy to share. I also have some info on the George Fry family indicating they are buried in a small cemetery in Cherokee County, Kansas-haven't had a chance to verify this yet.
    I need in info on Patrick Mullen & Hannah Pruitt, parents of Andrew Mullen, especially where they were born and married. They both died in Illinois.

    Whiteside descendants show given name as ADHN rather than ADEN.

    Birth date of 1816 is a guess, judging from the fact he could have come into the country in 1829 as a single man with Forgay Mullen. They vouched for each other in the Nacogdoches records in 1935. I don't know if that means he entered the country or Texas at that time. It states that they both arrived October 24, 1829. James Mullen (also single) arrived June 6, 1835. They could have been applying for land in the Mexican territory, just passing through or actually arrived in Galveston or New Orleans.

    Both Aden I. and Forgay show up on the August 1842 tax records in Hancock County Illinois with Hannah, James, Eli and Hannah Mullen. Hannah was listed in 1840 and these others could have been her children.

    1850 census in Scott Co., Illinois lists Hannah, Patrick Young, Elijah Carter, Alcey, Solomon, Andrew, Elizabeth, Abraham (Abe), and Nancy Jane all in Elexeter Twp. They were all married. This information came from Pat Lewis McDowell, P.O. Box 90532, Lafayette, LA 90532, plmcdowell @aol.com.

    George Fry, Janes brother was married to Isabella Mullen but I do not see that she belongs to this family.

    !1850 census: Hancock Co., Ill. Aden was not with Jane Fry and the two
    children ages 2 and 5 years. Lillie Mullen said he came out to Kansas
    to work on the railroad in early 1800's. Family never heard anymore from
    him. See Jane B. Fry notes.

    Aden Mullen came to work on the railroad in the early 1800's. Family never heard any more from him.

    Discovered a family tree of another Aden Mullen, b- Jan. 1890 in MO & d- 3/21/1955 in St. Louis Missouri. It goes back to Lawrence Mullen from Ireland.
    Also found Aden Mullen was married to Jane B. Fry in 1847 (hard to read) in Hancock Co., IL and
    also another Aden Mullen married to Lucintha J. Burton in 1843 in Madison Co., IL (near St. Louis, MO).
    This info was found in Ancestry.Com. He is also listed in the Navoo, Ill. Tax Index in August, 1842, Page 185, Coord. 3N7W.

    NOTE: If Aden Mullen is, in fact, son of Patrick & Hannah Pruitt Mullen, he could NOT have been born in Ireland.

    Per Earlene Bradley: Aden Mullen's family was in Hancock Co, IL in the 1850 census, but Aden was not. Jane Fry/Mullen, Aden's wife was with her brother's family (Thomas Fry) at the time. This could have been as the railroads were going through about this time."

    Per IL Tax Index 1842: 185 3N7W

    Per Earlene Bradley: "In 1842 Hannah Mullen, Forgay Mullen, Aden I. Mullen, Eli Mullen and James Mullen were listed in the tax records as well as Joseph Mullen at a little different location. I located this land (see description in notes for Hannah Mullen) and the railroad did go right through that area of land. My grandfather said Aden went to work on the railroad and never returned."

    Per Earlene Bradley: "Aden Mullen, a foreigner and single applied 24 Oct 1835 (arrived in 1829); witnessed by Fergay Mullen."
