    1. John Richardson was the first descendant we have documented. He was living in Christiansburg, Grayson County, Virginia, when he died, before 1800. It is believed that he first married (1) Mary Easterwood. They amassed a plantation of some 250 acres and a mansion house. It is by this Mary that his children are believed to have been born.

John's will was dated August 5, 1797, and read:

"I, John Richardson, of the County of Grayson and the state of Virginia, being very low and weak of body, but of sound mind that is appointed for all men to die, I do make and ordain this my last will and testament.

First, I commit my soul to God and my body to the earth to be decently buried., and as touching such worldly as has pleased God to bless me with, I devise and bequeath unto my dear and beloved wife, Mary Richardson, all that part of my land that lies north of a branch that empties into Bobbets Creek and the Ford where Wards Gap crosses it. With all my personal estate, my Mansion House and plantation and all its appurtenances during her natural life or widowhood and in case she should marry, I wish that the whole shall be equally divided between her and my children when they arrive at age by law to heir their part.

I also give and bequeath to my friend and neighbor William Betts all residue of my land laying south of the aforesaid Branch containing 41 acres be it more or less for cash to me paid to him and his heirs forever. And I make and appoint my well beloved friend and neighbor John Paxton sole executor of this my last will and testaments in witness whereof I hereby set hand and seal this 5th day of August in the year of 1797.

    John Richardson"

It is thought that the first wife must have died and John Richardson married (2) Mary Terrel on October 20, 1782, at Campbell County, VA.

It is also surmised that the widow, Mary (Terrel) Richardson married Reuben Paxton on August 13, 1799, in Montgomery County, VA, after the death of her husband.
