!Jesse Venable, under compulsion served two years in the Confederate army
during the civil war. He finally deserted, came north in 1864 and located
in the community now known as Tile Factory Corner, seven miles northwest
of Noblesville, Ind., where he farmed for many years. He had been here
only a short time until he enlisted in the 147th Indiana Regiment and
served until the close of the war. Jesse and Eliza had been married
fifty-five years at the time of Eliza death, and had twenty-one
grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Jesse second marriage was
to Mrs Ellen Stonebraker in 1923. He was a active member of the local G.
A. R. as long as his health would permit and served as its commander five
terms, during that time he was absent from only three meetings on account
of not being well. Jesse had many friends throughout the county. He often
said that he held no malice against anyone and loved everybody. The only
position of puplic trust that he ever held was that of superintendent of
the County Farm. He was appointed to this place in 1902 and served for
four years. He was originally a member of the Friends Church but became
identified with the Christian Church after his second marriage.

Jesse married Eliza Emily HAINES on 29 May 1867 in , Hamilton County, Indiana. Eliza was born in 1846 in Hamilton County, Indiana; died in 1922 in Noblesville, Hamilton County, Indiana. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

William married Sarah SMITH on 10 Jun 1829 in , Surry County, North Carolina. Sarah was born in 1810. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

!Sarah and William, had seven children to raise, and he died in 1851.
Sarah moved to Carrol County, Virginia in 1855 and her and the boys
farmed raising cotton and flax, they also raised sheep, and she still had
three teenage children to raise so she remarried then to Thomas Ogle in
Carrol County, Virginia. Sarah took Jesse and Squire Gideon with her in
Virginia, the two boys where there in the 1860 census. Augustus went to
live with their sister and was with her in the 1860 census.
