Elbert McMillian (Hank) husband of Edith Rosalie Wray McMillian, past away
either last night or early this AM. The funeral arrangements have not been
completed with the funeral home but, visitation is to be from 6 to 9 PM
Thursday June 1, 2006 at the Temple Baptist Church in Collinsville, VA with
the funeral to be at 11:00 PM on Friday June 2, 2006 at Temple Baptist
Church in Collinsville. Burial to be at Midkiff Cemetery in Mt. Airy
sometime the afternoon of June 2.

As I stated earlier, this is what the family has indicated and could change.

Thanks so much for all the prayers so far. Please continue to pray for my family. Rosalie went to her heavenly home early this morning. She is no longer sick and suffering. She is now with her precious family in heaven.

Please pray for my Daddy's family from Mt Airy as my cousin is ready for her heavenly home. This has been a very hard time for all the family. May God Bless the Family during this time and help ease the pain in everyone's heart.

Graham's wife, Edith, called me on June 3, 2002 to tell me about his death. He fell and broke his leg Friday night. He went through surgery, but did not recover well. He continued to decline until Sunday morning at 9:00 when he died. He is buried in Midkiff cemetery. I attended the funeral. (David W. Marshall, Sr.)

Obituary

Mrs. Edith Marie Poff Wray, age 94, of Mount Airy, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 13, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Wray was born in McDowell County, West Virginia on July 3, 1921, the daughter of the late Garland Prentiss Poff and Minnie Senter Poff. She retired from Spencers Knitwear after twenty-two years of dedicated service and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Survivors include her three daughters, Rosalie McMillian of Martinsville, VA, Rhonda Humphries of Mt. Airy, and Reva Arnder of Reidsville; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Pauline Wray Crabtree; a special brother-in-law, Clyde and Mary Jo Wray; and several cousins and many special friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wray was preceded in death her husband of sixty-two years, Robert ?Graham? Wray, Sr., daughters, Renee Combs and by an infant daughter, Evelyn Ramona Wray; a son Robert Wray, Jr.; and a grandson, Randy Combs. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 18, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Westside Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Steve Johnson, the Rev. Larry Stone, and Charles Crabtree, with burial in the Midkiff Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service at the church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and to her special caregivers, Kenny and Mary Swift. Memorials may be made to Westside Baptist Church, 107 Spring Creek Trail, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.

I spoke with my Aunt Gayle Wray Orange last week. She confirmed that the picture was in mid fifties, probably after Luther's funeral. She confirmed the order was Clyde, Earl, Russell, Ralph, Howard and Victor. She said Uncle Luther had a stroke in the 40's and passed in 1955.
I am attaching a scanned copy of a enlarged photo that was hanging over my grandfathers (Ralph) mantle of his father, Robert Marion Monroe Wray, during the Spanish American War. My Aunt Gayle has a copy of his discharge papers. I think Myrtle had the original. I have the large version of the photo attached now hanging in my living room. I didn't see it on your page so I thought you might like to have it. I will also get with Gayle as soon as I can to get scanned copy of Victor in the military uniform photo. I'll send more photos as I can get them scanned. I'll keep in touch.

Wray 0008 - I have a letter in her hand writing that gives her husband's birth and death dates, also her birth date. She is buried in Midkiff Cemetery (Find-A-Grave Memorial # 96276340)in Mount Airy. I was a Pallbearer for this funeral.
It was the day after a very bad snow storm so that they could not actually take her to the cemetery until at least later in the afternoon or even on a later date. The weather had cleared that day so I drove to Mount Airy from Columbia, S.C. to attend the funeral. The weather threatened to turn bad again the next day so I drove home right after the service in the funeral home.

Parry worked in a textile mill in Mt. Airy.
