    S8241, NC Line. b. Sept. 7, 1763, enlisted in Surry Co. and applied there Aug 15, 1832. In 1854, he was deceased and it was stated that his widow survived him by 6 years. Revolutionary War Records.

    Daniel Chandler Cockerham and his wife Mary lived at the "Perkins Place", about 4 miles from Jonesville (VA?). His Daughters where there.

    Daniel Chandler Cockerham migrated to Surry Co. NC in 1776

    Daniel Chandler Cockerham enlisted as a private in a company commanded by Capt. Absolom Bostick for 3 months. This was the regiment commanded by Col. James Martin. He also served 3 months in Captian James Sheppards company

    Daniel and Sarah was buried on the home farm in Surry Co. NC (present day Yadkin Co.)

    A few months before he died, Daniel Chandler Cockerham asked for his twin Grandsons, Frances Marion Cockerham and George Washington Cockerham, whom he had named after his two heros, to come to his knees. He told them,"Well, I have been through one war and now the country is free, and there will never be any more fighting. So you, my little grandchildren, will never have to go to war." This was to cause George Washington Cockerham personal pain when he fought in the Civil War.
