!A GEDCOM file from James Robertson - Buried in Crown Hill Cemetery. (Jan. 3, 1998 - DWM)
    CHWCI(pp. 628, 701-703.):
"Many substantial buildings in Salem and throughout Washington
and neighboring counties bear evidence to the painstaking care which John M.
Colglazier, a well-known building contractor, of Salem, gives to constructive
work entrusted to him. For many years Mr. Colglazier has been one of the
leading contractors in this part of the state and has, therefore, had much to
do with the substantial character of the upbuilding of this community.
"John M. Colglazier was reared a farmer and was educated in the district
schools of his home neighborhood and in Mays Academy at Salem. In his
youth he learned the carpenter trade from his father and all his life has
been actively engaged in building operations in this county, at the same time
carrying on extensive farming operations. Mr. Colglazier remained on the
home farm until his marriage in 1887, after which he bought a farm adjoining
that of his father and there lived until 1906, in which year he moved
to Salem for the better convenience of his contracting business. There he
bought a planing-mill, a valuable addition to his building operations, and is
still profitably operating the same. In addition to the numerous prominent
residences that Mr. Colglazier has erected in Salem and throughout the
county, he has done considerable work in the way of public buildings, the
woodwork in the Salem high school, the I.O.O.F. hall at Hardensburg and
several substantial warehouses being among the structures which bear the
    impress of his handiwork.
"Mr. and Mrs. Colglazier are members of the Christian church at Salem
and take a proper part in the various beneficences of the church, being
interested in all movements looking to community betterment, and they and
their children are highly esteemed by their many friends. Mr. Colglazier
has propered and is counted among the most substantial citizens of Washington
county. He is a Republican and for years has been actively interested
in the political affairs of the county, having served for two terms as
chairman of the Republican county central committee. He is an alert, energetic
and enterprising business man and enjoys the full confidence and the
utmost regard of his business associates and the community in general."
I remember that he had several fingers partially missing do to carpentry
    accidents.

John married Lillie Edwina (Della) MARSHALL on 13 Mar 1887 in Howard, Washington County, Indiana. David,

I just started on researching our family tree. I have 600 names entered so
far in the program Family Tree Maker. I obtained most of my information
    from my uncle, Norman Nale.

On my grandfather's side of the family, I have information on the Nale
family back to Germany around 1720 and the Denny family back to 1786. (I
found further information on our Denny family on the internet back to
Ireland around 1763. I understand that information found on the internet is
a starting point for finding the actual records.)

On my grandmother's side, Marshall's you know and the Overton family back to
1797. (I found our Overton family back to England about 1547 in the LDS
    Ancestral File.)

I don't know how to send gedcoms or data bases or whatever people send.

The easiest way for me is to cut and paste and send my notes.

The following email message came to me from Joyce Underwood (joyceu@fullnet.com) on 9/1/2003. It was in response to my email message to the Marshall RootsWeb mailing list about John Marshal;l rigging the trial of ---Aaron Burr
    ------------------
I agree with you!! It is our history and part of who we are. I recently discovered that my gg grandfather Peter Sydney Marshall was wounded at the Battle of Perrysville, KY. and lay on the ground for 3 days and 2 nights before he was found and received help. Peter promised his Uncle Daniel Zink(Mother's brother) that he would take care of his wife and children if something happened to Daniel in the war. Daniel was killed. So Peter did what he had promised, he married Mary and took care of her and the children. Peter not only raised those children but he and Mary had 7 of their own. I don't have to be related to someone famous, I have my own heros!! Joyce

Peter married Mary Adeline MARTIN on 25 Dec 1866 in Washington County, Indiana. Mary (daughter of Abner MARTIN and Elizabeth MCCOY) was born on 6 Mar 1842 in Martinsburg, Washington County, Indiana; died on 12 May 1909 in Washington County, Indiana; was buried in May 1909 in Salem, Washington County, Indiana.
