    DOBSON 10//20/1922 - 09/11/2017 Mrs. Annie Lee Hamby Gentry, age 94, of State Road, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born October 20, 1922 in Wake County to the late Claude M. and Annie Mary Lucy Nixon Harris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Andrew Hamby and Woodrow Gentry and her daughter, Annie Kathleen Hamby. Mrs. Gentry worked as a book keeper, was a member of Mountain Park Baptist Church, an avid gardener, a member of the Dobson Genealogy Society, a member of DAR, and loved making baskets. She is survived by her daughters, Linda and Fred Swanson and Bonnie Osborne (the late Webb Osborne); her son, Frank and Kathy Hamby; stepsons, Frankie Gentry and Johnny and Nancy Gentry; her brother, Fred Harris; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and a special friend, Emily Southard. Visitation will be Wednesday, September, 13, 2017 from 2-3 PM at Mountain Park Baptist Church. The service will follow at 3:00 in the church with Reverend Russell Nixon officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017 or to Mountain Park Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 358 Zephyr Mountain Park Road, State Road, NC 28676.
